Meet the Artists

Kristy paints in Florida. Lauren throws clay in California. We are a mother and daughter who find our greatest peace and passion in our art practices. Together, we craft art inspired by color, form, and our coastal surroundings.

  • Sarasota, FL

Kristy Schubert is an acrylic painter whose work is primarily inspired by the beauty of floral and ocean scenes. Her paintings capture the essence of these influences through vibrant colors, bold compositions, and expressive brushwork. Whether evoking the tranquility of ocean waves, the delicate intricacy of flowers, Kristy’s art reflects a unique blend of vibrant color and playfulness.

In 2014, Kristy and her husband relocated to San Diego and Coronado, where she immersed herself more fully in her passion for painting. Her art studio, located in the heart of the Gaslamp District on 5th Avenue, became a space for creative exploration. Inspired by the beauty of the Pacific Ocean, the San Diego Bay, and her involvement with the Coronado Floral Society, her work reflects the vibrant coastal landscapes and lush floral influences that surround her.

Today, Kristy continues to evolve as an artist, living in Sarasota, drawing from her rich experiences and ever-growing appreciation for nature and design. She is an active member of the Art Alliance and has her work displayed in the UPCC Gallery. Her creative work and expertise were recognized in publications such as The Kansas City Star, Kansas City Homes Magazine, and The Independent Social Magazine. She also explored illustration through greeting card design and a cartoon strip.

  • Bay Area, CA

Lauren as been immersed in art since childhood, inspired by her mother’s creative practice and passion for making. Over the years, she has explored watercolor, acrylics, and other mediums, but clay is her current focus. She discovered ceramics while living in Denver and quickly became drawn to its tactile, meditative nature. Now based in the Bay Area, she continues to develop her practice, embracing clay as both an art form and a process of continual learning.

Initially focused on achieving symmetry on the wheel, Lauren found that the most compelling pieces often came from moments of unpredictability, organic curves, subtle distortions, and forms shaped by the movement of the material. Leaning into this, she now creates work that is soft, fluid, and one of a kind.

For Lauren, pottery is an ongoing exploration of material, form, and the balance between control and spontaneity. Her work reflects a deep appreciation for the imperfect, the intuitive, and the endlessly evolving nature of the craft.
